Blonde Barbie bonds with blue bike...

My Scene Barbie with ET4 Vespa

Over the years I have determined that I have become a Barbie collector. Not one of those freaks who dresses like Barbie and gets plastic surgery, but I have bought quite a few Barbies, many of which are still in their boxes. However, one that has come out of the box for up-close display is the Barbie My Scene Vespa. Basically, this is the same as the current blue barbie Vespa that is out there, except this one comes with a My Scene doll and in three different colors. I purchased the Black ET4 with the African American Barbie named Chelsea. She is wearing a tired looking rust and beige velour work-out suit, so I also bought her a new cute outfit, instead.
The scooter has some cool features. They got rid of the lame set belt that marred previous scooters. The seat comes up (like on the real ET4) for storing the doll's helmet. There is also a rear luggage rack in which you can store other goodies. My Scene Barbies compete directly with the Bratz dolls that are so popular with the kids these days. My Scene dolls look like the good-girl version of the Bratz, which look like young ladies of weak morals, as your grandma might say.
The My Scene doll with vespa retails at around $19.99. Don't be lured by eBayers who promise "3 for $75." Don't be a lazy scootergal-get thee to a Toys 'R Us and pick it up cheaper!

Loop NYC Handbag and Big Purse

The big bag version

Fellow DSSC gal Lori B. couldn't say no to this cool scooter-themed bag from Loop. She bought it at Urban Outfitters for an undisclose amount, but I found it via careful online sleuthing at GirlShop (click the photo to go there) for $25. It measures 14x15 inches with a 15 inch handle which is an odd shape but can hold lots of rally loot. Loop also makes a smaller clutch-like version that has a wrist strap and measures 7x6 inches. It retails for $9 on GirlShop. neither versions of this bag are featured on the Urban Outfitter web site, so you need to search the actual stores for it. Definitely a cool item. Maybe even cool inspiration for that P200 mural bike you've been meaning to build.
